2021 Costume Character Auditions

Busch Gardens Williamsburg is seeking enthusiastic performers to join our Costumed Character team for the 2021 season.

We are looking for personable, animated people with fun, outgoing personalities to bring our costume characters to life. Share the joy of entertaining children and other guests as a costumed character by greeting guests, shaking hands, posing for pictures, and giving hugs. Costumed character performers also act as a character escort to assist with guest interactions.
- We cast performers in the 4'10" to 6'2” height range.
- Applicants must be able to perform in extreme temperatures, including summer and winter weather.
- Applicants must be able to stand for long periods of time.
- Performance experience is a plus but not required.
- Dance experience is a plus but not required.
- Employment periods available:
- Spring, Summer, Fall, & Winter (February-January)
- Day & evening shifts are available.
- Applicants must be at least 16 years old at the time of the audition.
Hourly Pay Rate: $11.00
Prepare for the Audition
- Applicants will be asked to learn a dance combination and participate in improv and athletic stamina exercises.
- Costumed character auditions are based primarily on movement, non-verbal communication, and physical coordination.
- Please arrive early enough to stretch and warm up before the audition begins.
- Please wear form fitting dance attire that allows a full range of movement and tennis or jazz shoes.
- Please do not wear jeans.
- Prepare a resume and headshot, which will be retained by the audition team.
- Applicants must be available for all scheduled rehearsal and performance dates.
- Rehearsals may begin as early as February 22, 2021
- Rehearsals may be scheduled from February 22, 2021 to May 24, 2021 any day of the week
- If you wish to audition, you will be asked to read and sign a release form that will allow your participation.

- If you are a minor, please click here to have your parent or legal guardian review and complete a minor release form that you must bring with you to the audition. Minors will not be allowed to audition unless they present a completed minor release form when they sign-in.
