Costumed Characters
About this Role
SeaWorld San Diego is looking for personable, animated people with fun, outgoing personalities to bring Sesame Street® and Shamu® and Crew characters to life. Share the joy of entertaining children and other guests as a costumed character by greeting guests, shaking hands, posing for pictures, and giving hugs. Costumed character performers also act as a character escort to assist with guest interactions.
- We cast performers in the 4'10" to 6'2” height range.
- You must be able to perform in extreme temperatures, including summer weather.
- You must be able to stand for long periods of time.
- Performance experience is a plus but not required.
- A variety of employment periods are available:
- Summer (March - September)
- Halloween (September - October)
- Christmas (November - December)
- Day & evening shifts are available, depending on the show.
- You must be at least 16 years of age at the time of the audition.
Starting Hourly Pay Rate: $17.00
Prepare for the Audition
- You will be asked to learn a dance combination and participate in improvisational and athletic stamina exercises.
- Costumed character auditions are based primarily on movement and physical coordination.
- Please arrive early enough to stretch and warm up before the audition begins.
- Please wear form fitting dance attire that allows a full range of movement and tennis or jazz shoes. Please do not wear jeans.
- Prepare a resume and headshot, which will be retained by the audition team.
- Auditioning can be a lengthy process; you may be asked to stay for a callback.
